Accessibility
GLOBE is committed to creating accessible and inclusive spaces for all of our events. Check out our guidelines below on how you can help maintain an environment of accessibility during this year's Annual Meeting:
For All Participants
- Internet Access: We recommend a strong, stable internet connection for the duration of the meeting. If you don't have a strong connection in your home, office, or school, we recommend attending the meeting from a local café or library.
- Closed Captioning (CC) & Subtitles: GLOBE will offer real-time captions on all presentations. Additionally, presenters are encouraged to add CC or subtitles to their presentations or pre-recorded videos.
- Compatibility: The Annual Meeting platform and presentations should work well across all browser options. However, we recommend using Google Chrome, Mozilla FireFox, or Safari for the best AM experience.
For Presenters
Before you submit your presentation or poster for the 2022 Annual Meeting, please review the "Digital Accessibility" and “Presenting with Accessibility in Mind” videos from the GLOBE Implementation Office and NASA. These videos outline the importance of creating equitable participation at the Annual Meeting by ensuring all attendees can access your materials regardless of temporary or permanent disabilities like visual, auditory, motor, or cognitive disabilities.
The videos also provide examples and tools for organizing your information in order to enhance the accessibility of your presentations and posters. This includes:
- Formatting and ordering text
- Creating accessible links
- Utilizing alternative text for images
- Creating color contrasts that are inclusive for all participants
Note: All of the information provided above is intended to maintain an environment of accessibility at the 2022 GLOBE Annual Meeting as well as to aid and support the creation of your presentation submissions. Please note that everyone benefits from a well organized, accessible presentation or poster, and the GIO wants to ensure all participants have equitable access to information.
