GLOBE Field Campaigns

GLOBE field campaigns are regional and worldwide projects that provide students with hands-on opportunities to explore and learn about Earth through a network of students, teachers and scientists. GLOBE field campaigns are grounded in real science embedded in an inquiry-based, collaborative approach.

Phase III of the ENSO Student Research Campaign: Water in Our Environment

We are proud to announce the continuation of the GLOBE ENSO Student Research Campaign as the Water in Our Environment. The Water Cycle guides where water is within our Earth system. Earth is a truly unique in its abundance of water. Water is necessary to sustaining life on Earth, and helps tie together the Earth's lands, oceans, and atmosphere into an integrated system.

This campaign uses a set of guiding investigative questions that allow students to answer questions about water in our environment, while thinking about the influence of water, globally. Each one of these questions are aligned to a specific suite of suggested GLOBE measurement protocols that will help answer each question. The number of protocols that a teacher has their student undertake is up to the teacher.

Urban Heat Island Effect - Surface Temperature Field Campaign

The University of Toledo is leading annual field campaigns focused on the impacts of urbanization on Earth's temperature. Help the scientists answer "How does surface cover of an area affect its surface temperature?" Set up research studies at your school looking at the differences of surface temperatures for different land cover.
