Aerosol Data - CALITOO through the GO App

Roger Rose is working with the GLOBE Clouds team this summer and noticed the following:

When using the GLOBE Observer App for Aerosols data collection, there is an option to "+ Add Trial" after 3 Trials have been entered.
It looks like 3 is the default minimum number of datasets that need to be entered to have a valid AOT observation. The system will take up to 5 Trials or sets of data.
However, the App appears to give the option for unlimited Trials. After 5 Trials have been entered, the option is still given to add another one. I went up to 20 Trials and the option to add more was still there.

If the observer tries to submit more than 5 Trials of data sets, they will receive an error message to edit the observation because the trials are out of range.

Is there any way for the App to only give the option for a maximum of 5 Trials?

If observers don't know that 5 is the maximum limit, they might get frustrated with trying to edit the data sets and give up on the data collection.

At first, I submitted 6 Trials on one observation and then 9 Trials on another one. I received the error message. I kept thinking that I had messed up entering the numbers somewhere. I finally deleted all the trials above 5 and it worked.

We have snapshots available that I cannot add to this blog post if needed.

In the Support section when I try to download from the Event Resources the Fillable Widescreen Banner it downloads, but than when i need to open it, it gives error in the .pptx file. Like it is broken. I've tried downloading it on several computers, but the outcome is the same.

FYI - the error is being caused by some code that is pointing to the wrong URL. While we're working on the fix, you can try prefixing this to the path you listed above:

https://Assets.globe.gov

So in the example you posted, you can retrieve your file here:

https://assets.globe.gov/adatq/data/GLOBEMeasurementData-18253.zip

We’ll get it fixed as soon as possible, but it may take until tomorrow.

Alternatively you can try the API - https://api.globe.gov/search/swagger-ui.html
That’s another way to get the data – more for writing a program to retrieve, so it’s not as intuitive an interface, but it’s very fast once you become familiar with it.

I am getting an error message when I try to download data from the Advanced Data Access Tool. "Not FoundThe requested URL /adatq/data/GLOBEMeasurementData-18253.zip was not found on this server."

My brilliant colleague Haley found a work-around for this issue. She discovered that when you add alt text to one image, you need to click off the image into the body of the news story before clicking on another image to add more alt text. Alt text on images doesn't work as intended

I noticed an issue with alt text on images when I was posting news stories to the U.S. GLOBE news. When I add more than one image to a story, the alt text is the same for each image. When I go to change one, the other gets changed too. I ended up using one generic alt text for the images, which of course defeats the purpose of alt text.

Even though the student sees the error message 'You do not have the roles required to access this portlet', they can still post to the forum. The message shouldn't be there. We'll get that fixed. Thanks.

Hello Cornell and David,

I would like to ask you for help with changing a GLOBE Observer account to a GLOBE Members (Full Member). My request concerns two teachers from the 8th Primary School of Nea Filadelfeia, Athens, Greece: Ioannis Makris and Stavroula Skiada (sskiada@yahoo.gr).

Both of them have created a GLOBE Observer account and got an e-training. Later, their accounts were associated with the school account of the 8th Primary School of Nea Filadelfeia, Athens school account, The 8th Primary School of Nea Filadelfeia is a GLOBE school.
However, the status of the teachers could not be changed. Could you please do that?
